Memberships and networks

ACCA

Laura Ipacs has been a member of ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants) since 1995, one of the first members to qualify in Hungary. She is now a Fellow of the Association.

Laura has actively managed the Hungarian Members’ Association since 2003, and was a member of its International Assembly between 2003 and 2008, the maximum six-year-term.

We regularly hold networking and Professional Development events for members’ benefit.

Graduation ceremony in Budapest

On 21 September 2006, ACCA Hungary held a graduation ceremony for 65 graduates who successfully completed their final exams at the June 2005, December 2005, and June 2006 examination sittings. Over 80 people attended the ceremony, which was held at the Malomto restaurant in Budapest. Roger Acton, head of ACCA Ireland and Central and Eastern Europe, gave the opening speech and presented the graduates with certificates. Katka Benesova, Head of ACCA in the Czech and Slovak Republics, and Hungary, congratulated the new graduates on their success and Laura Ipacs, ACCA International Assembly member, talked about ACCA activities during the year.

IFAC

IFAC stands for the International Federation of Accountants, the top body uniting the accountancy bodies worldwide.

ACCA has been a full member of IFAC since IFAC's inception in 1977. ACCA works in partnership with IFAC and its other member bodies in developing the global accountancy profession and has representation on each of the following IFAC boards and committees:

International Accounting Education Standards Board

The International Accounting Education Standards Board (formerly the Education Committee) develops guidance, conducts research and facilitates the exchange of information to ensure that accountants are adequately trained to meet their responsibilities to the public and their employers and to contribute to the worldwide harmonization of the profession. An important committee focus is assisting developing nations in the advancement of accounting education. ACCA is represented on the International Accounting Education Standards Board by ACCA member Laura Ipacs with technical assistance from Clare Minchington, managing director — learning and technical policy.
